Looking to study music?
Choosing where to continue your musical education is one of the most important decisions you will make as a young musician. With so many courses, institutions, teachers, and career pathways available, it can sometimes feel difficult to know where to begin.
Students and families often have questions about auditions, funding options, accommodation, course structures, teacher selection, and what life at a conservatoire is really like. Understanding the differences between institutions and identifying the right fit can take time and careful consideration.
Having studied at two music colleges myself and worked professionally as both a freelance and orchestral musician, I can offer practical insight into the realities of conservatoire training and the profession beyond graduation.
Whether you are exploring potential conservatoires, arranging consultation lessons, preparing for auditions, or simply trying to understand your options, I can help you make informed decisions with confidence.
Choosing the right institution is about more than securing a place. It is about finding the environment, teacher, and opportunities that will best support your development as a musician and as a person.
What does life after music college look like?
Life after music college can be exciting, rewarding, and full of opportunities, but it can also feel uncertain at times. The transition from student to professional musician is often one of the biggest adjustments a young musician will face.
While conservatoires and music colleges provide excellent musical training, many of the practical skills required to build a sustainable career are not always covered in detail. Understanding how to find work, manage finances, build professional relationships, market yourself effectively, and navigate the realities of freelance life often comes through experience.
Having spent ten years building a freelance portfolio career before moving into full-time orchestral work, I understand many of the challenges musicians face when starting out. I believe there is enormous value in learning from people who have experienced these transitions themselves and can offer honest, practical insight into the profession.
There is no single route to a successful career in music. However, with the right preparation, realistic expectations, resilience, and a willingness to create opportunities, it is possible to build a rewarding and sustainable professional life in music.

Anything else?
In addition to the services outlined above, I offer support with conservatoire and music college applications, audition preparation, and the many important decisions that arise throughout the process.
Every student's journey is unique, which is why I provide both individual consultation sessions and structured support packages designed to guide you through each stage of the application and audition process.
Applying for further study can feel overwhelming at times, particularly when balancing auditions, academic commitments, and significant career decisions. To help ease this pressure, I offer ongoing email support throughout the application period, providing a reliable point of contact for any questions, concerns, or challenges that may arise along the way.
My aim is not only to help you prepare successfully for auditions and applications, but also to ensure that you feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the entire journey.
If you have any questions about conservatoire study, auditions, or career pathways in music, please do get in touch. I would be delighted to hear from you.
