Timespan will be focusing on the Dief until mid-May – you can keep up with events at http://www.timespan.org.uk
Is the Caroline MacLeod who forwarded it my lovely sister-in-law?
Best wishes,
Heather

In Canada he is more thought of as being German as his paternal grandparents were German immigrants
However one can say he came from two good stocks. He was a good prime minister and Canada is none the worse because of him. He was known as “honest John” despite being a politician through and through and a lawyer to boot

Comment on Everyone’s a winner by Meghan Crosby http://www.heathermacleod.co.uk/everyones-a-winner/#comment-5736 Mon, 22 Jul 2013 13:22:50 +0000 http://www.heathermacleod.co.uk/?p=1098#comment-5736 Hi Heather,

Thanks again for the flattering and eloquent review! This is Meghan Crosby, the actress who played Rona Lisa Peretti. In addition to acting, I’m a playwright and director and was wondering if you’d be interested in a complimentary ticket to my new play that’s going up at the Fringe Festival in exchange for a review. I know this is a bizarre mode of contacting you, but I was unable to find your email on the Daily Record website. In case you’d like a bit more information on the production, here it is:

Inspired by the photography of the late photojournalist Tim Hetherington, “Sleeping Soldiers” is a play for soldiers. Not just soldiers carrying assault weapons, but those wielding the sharp point of the heart to fight for those they love.
Supposed enemies U.S. Lieutenant Jim and Afghani mother Anoosheh whisper the same nightmares. Jim is haunted by the death of his compatriots and dread of his own demise, and Anoosheh by the war’s pillaging of her family, home, and body. In reality and dreams, each is lured into believing the other is the source of the conflict’s evils, and it is not until they come face to face that they challenge these preconceptions and their own shared fears. Their war-torn souls can only begin to heal once they discover that they are both soldiers battling for the same aims: how to defend life, how to live it in the present, and whether or not to hold onto the past. Will their dreams reflect these new truths, or is it too late to undo their marred memories?
“Sleeping Soldiers” marries movement theatre with realism, juxtaposing dream-like dance with lyrical colloquialisms. It includes a political agenda as it comments on American soldier and Afghan civilian relations. A fringe debut for the playwright/director, cast, and designers, it also features an international team from America, Syria, Greece, Romania, England, and Scotland. The play flaunts an original score and choreography by emerging Glaswegian artists. As this multitude of diverse voices comes together, “Sleeping Soldiers” hopes to make a peaceful wager against war through donating their ticket sales to Women for Women International, a charity that assists women in eight different countries suffering from the atrocities of war, including women in Afghanistan.
“Sleeping Soldiers” runs 31 July through 10 August at 2:15PM each afternoon in the C Venues’ C(+1) theatre, or Venue 34 on Chambers Street. Additional show and ticket information can be found here: https://www.edfringe.com/whats-on/theatre/sleeping-soldiers .

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and I would be thrilled to see you at the Fringe Festival! Have a lovely Monday!!

All my best,
Meghan Crosby

I don’t know if you know Homer – we’re in Aberfeldy and Edinburgh – but we’ve just opened a Furniture and Home Accessories showroom in Aberfeldy with dozens of vintage furniture pieces, furniture from reclaimed materials, rugs and some fantastic lighting – http://www.athomer.co.uk/vintage_furniture/whats-new-aberfeldy.

I’d love to talk to you and maybe send you more information/images – perhaps for your blog or Herald Interiors?

Look forward to being in touch
